Samaria Klezmer Band was formed in 2016 in the town of Šamorín, whose Latin name the members used for the band’s name. Their repertoire blends traditional Eastern European klezmer with modern elements of world music and folk. In their performances, you’ll hear Yiddish, Israeli, and Sephardic melodies, as well as iconic songs from Jewish theaters of the last century. The band — Julia Michnya Janík (vocals), Ildikó Varsányi (violin), Juraj Varsányi (darbuka, cajón), Barnabás Kollárik (clarinet), and Tibor Lelkes (accordion) — transcends cultural boundaries, delivering an unforgettable concert experience for audiences of all generations. In 2023, they released their debut album Samaria Klezmer Band, Vol. 1 and performed not only in Slovakia but also in neighboring Hungary and Austria.
