Gypsy jazz with piano instead of guitar? If you want to hear how that works, you need to come to the concert of this young and energetic ensemble. Pianist Miloš Biháry has a classical music background, so it’s no surprise that the repertoire of his Django Gypsy Jazz Trio includes not only standards by Tchavolo Schmitt, Carlos Gardel, or Tony Muréna, but also jazz adaptations of Johannes Brahms as well as Hungarian, Romani, and Romanian folk songs.

This spring, they released the album Čavoros de Django with exactly this kind of material, aimed at all lovers of gypsy jazz and high-quality instrumental music. Alongside Miloš, the album features violinist Adam Halás and drummer Marek Rašman — and it is in this very lineup that you’ll see them at our festival.
